As an isolated clinical disease, leukoedema of the buccal mucosa refers to a frequent abnormality* of the nonkera tinized oral mucosa which present an opalescent coloration (fig. 1). The inside of the cheeks is particularly affected and to a lesser extent the lips and the ventral side of the tongue.
