With TMDs, the emergency lies in the sudden aggravation of existing painful or functional signs altering the patient's quality of life. The main motive for consultation is an acute temporomandibular pain, spontaneous and persistent or triggered by movements. It comes along with reduced mouth opening. The objective of this article is to list simple procedures intended to relieve the patient and to achieve a satisfactory result in the short term and even during the session. In many cases, impressions cannot be taken because of the limited opening although they are required in the conventional treatment of temporomandibular dysfunctions either for the preparation of an orthosis or for the occlusal analysis.
